Even though I am not a resident of his constituency, it still makes my blood boiled when I read that pap transport ministar Chee Hong Tat, Member of Parliament for Bishan Toa-Payoh GRC acknowledged in a recent FB comment that he has only visited Block 208, Toa-Payoh North in his constituency a second time since 2020.
I repeat. He recently admitted that he only visited Blk 208, Toa Payoh North which is in his constituency only for the second time since 2020.
Instead of feeling sorry, shameful and regretful about it, he unashamedly rebutted the netizen who pointed out the above with 'express joy with reconnecting with the residents and it is our residents who will decide the outcome of the next GE' lalala... etc.
Any properly thinking person must rightly wonder just how he reconnects when he has not even started to connect?
The late MM was spot-on when he said that the one man one vote system is a very tough system to work and in order for it to function as intended, the society needs a thick middle class electorate. Our situation in Singapore is made worse with decades of pap conditioning of its citizens and the widespread political apathy of our electorates.
Absolutely no MP will be able to get my vote again if he/she only visited me 2 times since 2020.
So, just how many or how far is 2020?
From now, it is about 4 years or 1460 days or about 200 weekends or about 200 sundays and not counting all the public holidays combined! And imagine, just only 2 visits by its Member of Parliament! I will kick myself and bang my head if I vote for such a hopeless MP. I know I deserve better. I earnestly hope that more fellow citizens understand that for themselves too.
Pap, hand to heart, you have really regressed a great deal. You seriously do not deserve the very solid support and mandate that Singaporeans had given to the old guard pap governments of yesteryears at all.

To be fair, it’s not easy to have frequent visits.
Previously, my GRC, the PAP mp in charge visited my block 1 & only time in 10 years.
Months later they were voted out & remained out till this day & most likely out in the next circle as well.
To me, such visitations are not really necessary nor meaningful to me. (What more, a large noisy group came knocking at 10pm)
Visitation or not, it does not affects much.
It’s the policies that help or nail you.
Recently LW proudly announced the setting up groups to address cost cutting & climate change.
I wonder how many Singaporeans really have climate change high on their list of concerns.
For sure there’re more pressing issues affecting Singaporeans that much efforts & resources should be put in, climate change is most certainly not up there.

Came across house visit by MP a few times.
Preceding the visit, some one would knock on your door, informing you that your MP was on his way to visit you.
Minutes later, the MP and his entourage would appear at your door step with a broad smile. After the the usual formalities of hand shaking etc, he would ask how are you, any problems? If no problem, he would proceed to the next door. The whole process would take no longer than five minutes.
What would that achieve?
To be more practical, it would be much better if when you need him, you know where to find him. When you have problems, he is and ready to help.
Spending precious time on house to house visit is good for the eyes only.
