$850 in GST vouchers to help with the cost of living
Come August, about 1.5m Singaporeans will receive up to $850 in GST vouchers to help with the cost of living.
Nobody will quarrel with having more money, yet, this annual handout is detrimental to the progress of the people and the nation because it adds to the suffocating influence and power of the government over the people.
As it is, the government has a finger in every sector of the economy, including food courts, supermarkets, transport, healthcare, banking and insurance, property, construction, seaport, airport and airline. It controls the labour unions and the employers federation. More than 80% of the people depends on it for their housing. The town councils are directly controlled by it (except the few constituencies not won by the PAP). Our CPF is controlled by it. The mainstream media, funded by the people, operates as its propaganda arm.
The legitimate duty of a government are external defense, internal security, infrastructure, and functions that are naturally not profitable as a business but will frequently reap benefits for society in the long run, including essential services for the poor like education, medical care and public housing. The rest it should leave to the private sector, while ensuring free and fair competition.
The government’s excessive control in so many aspects of our life will only make those of us who are meek, dependent on it, and those who are active and ambitious, sycophants (“balls carriers”).
It is far better that the government scrap the vouchers but ensure that the people, especially those in the lower economic strata, can make a living wage, by drastically reducing the army of foreign workers, who are keeping wages down.
In addition, the government should relook its policies that keep cost of living high, including the recent increase in GST, excessive economic activity in a very small island which has arguably led to dis-economies of scale, the conundrum of a public housing policy that is dependent on ever-increasing prices, given that the people’s retirement funds are tied to it.
Using taxpayers’ money to give out annual GST vouchers only adds to the control of the government over the people, which is evil. People in such a country, like slaves, will never fully develop themselves, to be the best that they can be, instead, will shrivel into small men, who can never achieve anything great. The government, in its wanton need for control, is sacrificing enormous human potential, even as you are reading this.
Finally, we can all bet our last GST voucher that the government will carry out the general election shortly after the people have received the vouchers in August, to capitalize on their gratefulness, which may well give them the edge over their opponents, and thus extend their iron-grip on the people for another five years.

With so many PRs/FTs living here,it is time we reveal impact OF SOCIO-ECONOMIC COSTS EXPENDED JUST TO CONVERT PRs TO CITIZENs over the last 20 years.
With so many long-time PRs/FTs rejecting citizenship extended to them by the G,the cost to sg society must be rather high.
Those who took up citizenship are mediocre talent on average as we can observe.
The social cost to sgs is unacceptably high i dare guesstimate.
The G needs to revisit their current practice as the outcome per social cost to sgs is burdensome.

Of course the chiefs need the 9% GST. Part of it can make up for the multi million memorial and MRT station, transport loss from new fare cards without amounts, coming up with vouchers after vouchers to buy votes in election year, using tax payers’ money to fund their sky high salaries to run election campaigns etc.

Problem is, … the majority don’t see it that way !!!
And have not, … for nearly seven decades.
And, … will continue in that very vein !!!

Welcome to bolehland where handouts are the way to election victory! Singapore is now the new Malaysia while old Malaysia is now busy cleaning up its act.

Whether the MIW have the right to use our money to secure their election victory is question for future generations to ponder.

PAP won’t give up on these vouchers because they don’t have anything else better to give. Forget about asking them to reduce GST or hawker centre rental or S&CC charges, the only way they know is up not down. To them, these vouchers have resolved the issue and their wonderful statistics will once again paint a very nice and rosy picture just you wait.
But even PAP cannot escape reality and should it come down to the expected result of them losing more seats than they expected I’m dead sure they will eother increase te frequency of the vouchers being given out, the amount printed will be increased or both together.
Do remember this is the same od shitty PAP you are used to. All they do is WAYANG. Remember the umpteen times they have increased both the S and E Pass minimum salaries only to continually grow the population year after year? if that isn’t a wayang then I don’t know what is liao.
So let’s see how the next election goes. Whether guitar man can maintain or even increase that vote share or not. If it plunges to a level that the party is uncomfotable with expect a lot more wayangs in the next election term.

Some predicted election could be this October, else would be next years……..
With so many vouchers and goodies……..it is likely earlier rather than later.
Why citizens need to survive on or have a better living with handouts, and the gov is SO RICH to the extent of paying themselves millions……?

Hypocritically, the PAP operates on one wavelength of rhetoric and on an entirely different one of self-created reality. The fact is that it was never intended to help people. This is stealing taxpayer money, plain and simple. The shift towards a more “food stamps” culture is dangerous as it defies the natural sociability of humans and will ultimately result in a backlash.
Capitalism or the free market is a very powerful force which can create wealth and provide us with many of the things we want. However I am reminded of – Fire is a good servant but a bad master. It can cook your food and keep you warm or it can burn your house down and kill you. Unfortunately too often Singaporeans forget that it should always be our servant and never our master. When people bow down and worship it, just like fire, when you let it have it’s way, that’s when you end up being CONSUMED!

To reduce inflation, we need to remove the real cause of cost.Little money do only little or no help.
The real cause behind the cost is monopoly and oligopoly in Singapore. Monopoly and oligopoly structure make people pay more because of uncompetitive price . Government own companies like Temasek, NTUC, DBS, Singtel which are profit seeking. Singaporeans situation is similar to playing monopoly without owning those hotels and lands. Singaporeans pay “indirect tax” to these companies all own by government like housing loans(DBS), transport(SMRT,SBS), water & electricity, food (NTUC). As we know inflation are making them rich, citizen poor.

What subsiddy? The $tupid Sheeple are paying for the GST Vouchers through their back pocket. There is no such thing as ‘free’. It has to come from somewhere. They have just taken your previous GST or tax monies and given that back to you – butt then they will take it back again.
There is no free market when the Regime sets the price of everything through its land sales and GST. When the recession hits (as it must) when the major banks are unable to make money and people are unable to afford loans – the prices of assets must come down.
Then the losses start to add up. Recession means cost comes down because people cannot afford to spend. Most Sheeple will not have real jobs. These will go to FT. Grab delivery does not count.
So what happens on an island with no jobs and no means of earning a livelihood? Desker Road? Rummage through garbage bags? People nowadays do not know real economic pain – they will find out the hard way what happens when they put fools in charge because they want free vouchers and free death jabs.

Taxes and subsidies are part and parcel of government’s finances.
Ideally, the G should tax the haves and subsidise the have-nots.
‘FREE’ vouchers are a form of subsidy as much as GST is a tax.
The G needs taxes to give subsidies.
But in $in City, the G operates in irrational and errant way$.
The G enrich the rich and impoverish the have-nots in so many ways via their daft policie$.
Even alien economic scavengers benefit much more than our own singaporeans?
Labour policy practices,HDB policies,Covid budget allocations, etc, have benefitted “alien$” much more than many groups of sgs including singles and elderly nation builders.
This is Sgporean G,not UN!
The primary obligations are to the CITIZENS FIRST,NOT EVEN TO PRs especially long-time PRs who REJECT THE G’s multiple offers to convert to Sg Citizens.
I would even venture to suggest that PRs who WANT TO BUY HDB must be prepared to CONVERT TO SG CITIZENSHIP WITHIN A WINDOW PERIOD OF 5-7 YEARS OR MUST SELL THEIR HDB TO A SG AFTER SUCH PERIOD OF TIME.
PRs can rent or if they are genuine talents ,they would have enough income to buy PRIVATE HOUSING.
WHY BLAME ELDERLY SGS FOR BUYING HDB AT SUCH HIGH PRICES WHEN THEY NEED TO DOENGRADE TO PLAN FOR THEIR RETIREMENT UN OUR HIGH COL ENVIRONMENT?
AND,WHY PUT UNFAIR RESTRAINTS ON THESE ELDERLY SGS WHEN THE G IS SO LAX ON PRs ?
Many PRs who own HDB also own PRIVATE HOUSING.
IT IS TIME THE MND MINISTER REVISIT THIS MATTER MORE APPROPRIATELY.
CITIZENS SHOULD HAVE MORE RIGHTS THAN A NON-CITIZEN;else,WHY WOULD PRs want to become CITIZENS?
STUPID RIGHT?!

The vouchers are welcome but not with much warm feelings towards the PAP.
It’s more of an apology by the PAP but of course not of good sincerity.
It’s PAP’s trying to secure votes.
The battle Singaporeans face is not a daily basis.
The vouchers won’t lasts very long, it simply gives Singaporeans a little breathing space but knowing the struggle is still there & with no real solution ahead.
If Singaporeans want a better & lasting solution, PAP must be given a big slap & probably a kick for that to maybe happen.
Don’t wait for another 5 long years.

It remains unclear how MCCY arrived at the conclusion that Singaporeans support the idea of a Founders’ Memorial and whether the Ministry surveyed Singaporeans on their thoughts on erecting such a tribute.

IT GOES TO SHOW THAT DECISION IN PARLIAMENT IS BEING PUSH THROUGH WHICH MAY BE A COSTLY MISTAKE. IF THERE IS A COALITION GOVT IT WILL BE THOROUGHLY DEBATED & BENEFIT SG AS THE MONEY WILL BE WELL SPENT!
LET’S MOVE FORWARD & NOT KEEP LOOKING BACK & DON’T CONTINUE TO ALLOW PAPPY TO SWEEP THINGS UNDER THE CARPET!
IF YOU WANT TO SEE GOOD CHANGE, VOTE IN MORE OPPOSITION GRCs AT THE UPCOMING GE!

Yes, full transparency is a MUST.

Forget G$T VOUCHERS.
Very simple one.
Just issue GST-FREE cards to Senior CITIZENS especially above 65years of age.
PRs NOT ENTITLED.
If PRs want to enjoy must take up sg citizenship.
The same should apply to other areas like HDB flats.
Many PRs are reaping HUGE PROFIT$ from RE-$elling their HDBs bought at much lower prices when many groups of sgs were barred from buying then.
The G IS SLEEPING AND SHITTING ON THE JOB,PERIOD.
WHY BLAME SENIORS WHO ARE LOOKING TO DOWNGRADE FOR THE HIGH HDB RESALE PRICES?
It is most stupid.
You think retirees trying to cope with the high COL are so happy to buy HDB at such elevated prices when they were not allowed to do so when prices are way lower?
Too many of our public policies intentionally favour PRs and that is WHY MANY LONG-TIME PRs choose to remain as PR and outrightly reject the PAP GAHMEN MULTIPLE OFFERS OF CITIZENSHIP.
DAFT like LKY said of such sgs, gahmen included.
