Iswaran’s Victory

I believe alot of people were having popcorns in their hands all ready to watch the Great Show of the century but ended up in great disappointment. I wasn't one of them.

I have explained before when Iswaran was first charged with corruptions, it's not that easy for the AGC to prove bribery in this case. Accepting gifts and goodies from "good friends" may breach the law on lesser degree but to prove corruptions or bribery, the AGC must prove that there were favours given in return. It means that the prosecution must prove that there were casual relationship between a decision made that favour the givers and the gratifications or gifts received by Iswaran.

But since CPIB has done a thorough investigation and AGC had charged Iswaran for 2 counts of corruptions, I believe there must be some material evidence involved which wasn't revealed so far.

Although I am not surprised that AGC amended these 2 corruption charges to a lesser charge of accepting gifts as public servant but it is still pretty dramatic for this to happen right in the first moment of the much anticipated trial.

It is even more dramatic when Iswaran's lawyer, Mr Davinder Singh, pleaded guilty on behalf of his client immediately right after the corruption charges were basically dropped and amended to the lesser charge.

As this case is of great public interests, it is very important for us to get some clarity on the happenings.

What material evidence has the AGC based on when it decided to press corruption charges on Iswaran? Specifically, what favours were perceived as given by Iswaran in return for the gratifications or gifts he has received?

What material change to the evidence or case has occured to make the AGC changes its mind on pressing the corruption charges and amended these two charges into the lesser charges?

It is not uncommon for the prosecution and defense to negotiate for plea bargain but in this case, it is in public interests for both sides to make known whether the current situation is the result of plea bargain.

Even though the prosecution is pressing for 6 to 7 months of jail term for Iswaran, but this is still a major victory for Iswaran. AGC has technically dropped the corruption charges against him and only asking for 7 months jail term when the maximum jail term for obstruction of justice is 7 years.
So keep all your popcorns folks.

    I remember Dr Chee’s case,
    JBJ’s too.
Those 2 cases sounded more serious than Iwa$ruin, how come?
And,Dr Chee’s case ,it was a paltry sum for postages.
JBJ’s case was even more obscure?
Both were CONDEMNED heavily, one way or another.
Dr Chee was not even MP.
JBJ was just an oppo MP ,not even THE OPPO LEADER?

Iwa$ruin was veteran minister when “caught”?
    Sums involved of greater quantum

To me,it is like that little boy who got handcuffed and shackled for petty theft at that shopping mall against much bigger offenders who are more leniently treated loke angmohs who bashed and hurt Sg Citizens in various instances?

The Law should be more restrictly applied to persons of greater ‘standings”,me thinks, especially those who ought to uphold the law more faithfully than their more common countrymen.

There will never be any popcorns available for sure. Why? The former minister already won. With a six months imprisonment sentence will likely means at most 4 months stay at Changi with one third remission on good behaviour and conduct inside prison. Thus a little slap on the wrist. There is a clear case of plea bargaining. The pay and pay Govt wants this case settled and resolved quickly as the next election is coming. The Govt hopes and believes that 70% of the electorate are stupid and have short memories.

  • Yesterday I was having a drink with a former prosecutor and we talked about his case. She then jokingly remarked that had this been in China, he would not have been charged and cab even be classified as 好官 and 清官. lol

  • Harder Truths:

In ancient Rome, before the collapse of the Western Roman Empire, the citizens were treated to mass executions and gladiator games, soo they would forget or be distracted from the real issues.

As Lawrence Of $ingapore fiddles, the population just hit 6 million, adding more than 130000 FT in the last 12 months. The addition of all locals was less than 10 times that.

If locals can survive in ANY job after they turn 40 I will be deeply impressed. The question of whether they can survive the jab and be able to reach 40 is something else.

All the polices now in force are to make $inkies vanish one way or the other – and are doing a good job. I am sure the electorate will vote for the people who are determined to kill them off one way or another.

Guess how many months Pritam will get compared to Iswaran? If anyone still think our judiciary is non-partisan then they must be from outer-space. Justice is only for the MIW, the rest gets just desserts.

Top public $ervants who tell sgs to “EMBRACE” the foreigners must set a good ecample by EMBRACING THE FTs and their “dependants” they dump here.
Even so,the ministers’ wives, kids, aged parents, and grand kids should ALL BE TAUGHT TO EMBRACE the aliens instead if getting “shielded” officiosly?

So,HDB at $1.8M is the fault of senior sgs looking to downgrade from private housing just to mitigate runaway COL?
I am sure seniors would love it if they can buy immediately from HDB directly without having to wait for years and KEEP PAYING HIGH RENTALS?
    Maybe at Sgs 600K??????

    Who WIN ,Who lose?
    Obvious.
G wins as can peg new HDB units at elevated prices.
Oh,PRs/FTs ARE THE BIGGY WINNER$$$ AFTER “RE-$ELLING” ,as usual for decades now!
Minister Desmond Lee,why blame downgrading seniors.
You should have HELICOPTER VIEW and PLAN FORWARD FOR AGEING AND JOBLESSNESS of older SG CITIZENS.
INSTEAD, YOUR MND N HDB PLAN VERY WELL FOR PRs???

And,still DUMPING FTs via FTA here.
Hey,minister, sir,THESE ADDITIONAL FTs and THEIR “DEPENDANTS” REQUIRE HOUSING too or are you thinking of WELCOMING THEM into the ninisters’ BIG BUNGALOW$?

PLS LAH,ENOUGH FINGER-POINTING OF BAD POLICY OUTCOMES,KICK YOUR OWN BACKSIDES FOR ONCE.

  • Deep Seated Cultural Issue:

”The issue of “deep-seated cultural issues” within SMRT came into the spotlight last year, when Mr Kuek – also a former chief of defence force – had used it to explain the lapses within the organisation that led to the tunnel flooding incident in October last year (2017).
Deep Shit Cultural Issue by definition takes a long time to eradicate.
One way is to throw billions of dollars at the problem like Khaw did.
But was the Deep Shit/Seat removed?
Or is it resurfacing, never really gone away.
You can by a new car…it can break down in two years if you do not maintain it properly.

How long does it take to remove ‘deep seated cultural issue’…which happens t be the title of Taylor Swift latest song!

This guy is no dummy. He took a risk but he knew that would be able to get out of any major prison time. He knows where, and how the skeletons are buried, so probably made a deal with the ISD. If you don’t piss on me then I will not reveal what I know, which is in the hands of his UK solicitor.

He will be out of $inkieland once the dust settles. His life here is over – time for him to sit back relax and enjoy his ill-gotten gains that he stole from $tupid $heeple.
