To get users to top-up unnecessarily? A friend who uses a pre-paid SIM card because he doesn’t use his mobile phone that often told me that on 4 May he topped up his Singtel Hi card ($15) successfully. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong makes a statement that many think was undiplomatic and is rightly questioned for it but what has the reaction been? Instead of any critical discussion on whether the twice repeated statement was called for and a clear action being taken we now have: – Debates going on about historical interpretation... 

Singapore took the chair of ASEAN in 2018. PM Lee wanted to make a significant impact. He set it as a priority for that year. (At least this was the impression that I had). He could not achieve much during the year as chair of ASEAN. It was disappointing. He did try his best. I do not blame him for failing failing in this mission....
