Dear Straits Times,   I refer to the letter by Dr Yik Keng Yeong dated 25 Sept 2010.   Dr Yik's description of rigged elections, apathetic and bribe-able electorate, sinning politicians, inefficient administration, intimidated judiciary and gonzo journalism befits the situation in the most dire of third world countries. ... 

Well this is certainly the time of grief for our country and it is almost unprecedented. We had two obituaries within a week, a minister and the mother of the Prime Minister. Coming so close together, it brings even greater sadness to the people involved. I know for sure that grief and mourning transcend all races, all religions,...
