It’s appalling that the buck stops with the men at the bottom. In the Bukit Batok fire, the town council officer who padlocked the hose reels will be redeployed while his two supervisors will be penalised. As to the case of the missing water, the Town Council, having been slapped with a Fire Hazard Abatement Notice for non-compliance...

We have the most powerful armed forces in the region, the most powerful air force, the most power navy, but we cannot protect our islands from being invaded and occupied by 2m foreigners. Actually we invited them, oops, not we, the govt invited them to occupy our little piece of rock, so short of land even for our Singaporeans...

Does having elections necessarily mean that we are more “democratic”?

Just because we have free elections every five years, does it mean our country is more democratic than a country that does not have elections, like China? Governments all over the world fear one thing most - people power, in particular, mass civil disobedience. That, toppled the Shah of Iran and Marcos, brought independence...
