TR EMERITUS

I refer to the news that bus and train fares will go up by 9 cents per trip from 28 Dec 2019. 9 cents per trip more to an individual passenger isn’t a lot of money but when taken together, 9 cents multiply by the millions of bus and train passenger trips each day will translate into hundreds of thousands or even millions... 

The state Media even found reason to celebrate (on behalf of MOM via positive reporting) when "More workers were injured on the job in the first half of this year, but the number of workplace deaths dipped to a seven year low". The report in ST on 1 Oct 2019 was silent on the nationalities of those who lost their precious lives... 

In passing a judgment, the judge has to consider all the relevant factors of the case and also protect the integrity of the court by upholding past decisions. If the judge has to change the principle made in past decisions, the judge has to have good reasons and has to state the reasons. It is not appropriate for ordinary people,...
