Dear Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, I am writing as a concerned parent whose child is currently a volunteer at the Youth Olympic Games (YOG). I refer to the recent reports on the mass food poisoning outbreak at a YOG venue involving 21 YOG volunteers. You should have called a press conference to allay the anxieties of worried parents... 

Pity our young and eligible Singaporeans. They just can't do something on their own and now I am beginning to think that they have lost the plot in life. From childhood to adulthood they are guided by parents, by teachers, by government. Now, having reached the nubile stage of life, they need one more nudge to overcome this...
