The first time I heard of Operation Coldstore, an exercise which saw the arrest and detention of more than 130 opposition leaders was when I was helping to edit a small collection of poems and prose on imprisonment and exile with the late Mr Tan Jing Quee in 2008. We were talking casually about the contributors to the collection... 

We all remember when the population white paper came out in 2013 and everybody objected so loudly. What happened after that?
