TR EMERITUS

I refer to the article “$1 billion worth of GST Vouchers, MediSave top-ups to benefit 1.6 million Singaporeans” (Straits Times, Jun 28). It states that “will be one of 1.6 million Singaporeans set to benefit from goods and services tax (GST) benefits and MediSave top-ups – worth a total of $1 billion – which were announced... 

I remember when I was gainfully employed, I was required to declare the amount of 'gifts' I receive annually as well as 'income in kind'. These are deemed personal incomes and are subject to tax. My family and I used to fly FOC as my wife was working in the airline. However, she was required to pay taxes for the amount of subsidy... 

“Mr Kausikan said that Beijing uses a mix of persuasion, inducement and coercion techniques to create a psychological environment which poses false choices for other countries...” - A PERFECT description of what PAP has been doing to its own citizens. Isn't our PAP govt uses the similar tactics of offering false or no options...
