TR EMERITUS

Orchard Road has never been as dirty as it is now. Cigarette butts, plastic bags, paper and balloon shreds can be seen on the pavement close to the flower beds outside Ngee Ann City. And there are far too much bird droppings on both sides of the road. There is no point trying to make Orchard Road look attractive if basic cleanliness... 

PM Lee Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said more social spending does not mean better results ("More govt not always better govt: PM Lee"; last Friday). Yes, it is wise not to waste money on Western-style welfare programmes. But is the Government spending enough? We are told there is a "many helping hands" approach to social... 

Please don’t anyhow hantam our policemen. Further to my earlier posting: Maruah wanted to hold a seminar on the “struggle for workers’ rights” in riot area. Sounds like trying to pour petrol on fire.
