The Reform Party will be conducting a walkabout tomorrow on 19 September 2010 at 9am at Keat Hong Shopping Centre, 253 Choa Chu Kang Ave 1 (680253). RP leaders and activists will be meeting up with Choa Chua Kang residents in person to hear about their concerns, fears and anxieties. With the next general election looming ahead, the Reform Party has been stepping up its grassroots activities to reach out to more Singaporeans. In a recent interview with the Straits Times, RP's Secretary-General Mr Kenneth Jeyaretnam revealed that RP will be contesting in Choa Chua Kang SMC as well as neighboring Hong Kah and West Coast GRCs. When asked on why RP is contesting in these constituencies, Kenneth replied: “The Reform Party wants to see that the people of Singapore should have a chance to judge for themselves as to who has the better policies, the PAP or the Reform Party. The voters in Hong Kah, West Coast and Toa Payoh-Bishan have not had a chance to choose their representatives for some time. Many people approach us on walkabouts and say they have never voted in their lives despite now being middle-aged. They often express the hope that they will get to vote before they die.” The PAP MP for Choa Chu Kang is Manpower Minister Gan Kim Yong who is widely tipped to "cross over" to helm Hong Kah GRC which is without a heavy-weight minister for four years after former Transport Minister Yeo Cheow Tong stepped down in 2006. He is expected to retire from politics for good in the next general election. With the electoral boundaries yet to be announced, it remains to be seen if the constituency will still be around for RP to contest or be merged with Hong Kah GRC. Mr Sin Kek Tong, the Chairman of the Singapore People's Party, won a respectable 47.7 percent of the votes in Braddell Hill during the 1991 general election under the banner of the Singapore Democratic Party. He worked hard in the next six years to win over the voters there only to discover on the eve of polling day in 1997 that Braddell Hill has been "absorbed" under mysterious circumstances into Marine Parade GRC. With public disaffection and disgruntlement against the PAP regime at an all time high, it is likely to try the same old dirty tricks again to ensure that it retains its power with another "overwhelming" mandate. PAP supporters apparently treat us like some pests. They think we hate the government for no good reason. They think we are irrational to hate the “best” government in the world. To them whatever we say, whatever we do, they think we are just stopping Singapore from succeeding. When we criticise the government or complain, they think we are making a lot of noise. They think we are being a bunch of ungrateful bunch of fools. To the PAP supporters, criticism of any pro-PAP comment, PAP member or the government is deemed wrong. To them, we should be resilient and stop complaining about hard times after all this is life. After all the government was “caught off guard”. It is ridiculous that criticising anything is wrong and that we should just shut our mouths. It is ridiculous that complaining about something wrong in our country is deemed by the government and its PAP supporters as being “noisy” and “fussy”. When people voiced about their unhappiness, it is not only they just want to express the unhappiness. They want something to be done about the situation so that the situation improves. If we do not criticise or complain, how would the government know that something is wrong with the policies or Singapore. How will they know the faults of their policies other than through official channels? Since we are supposedly living in a democratic society, why can't PAP supporters accept the fact that to criticise and complain is to hope that the government does something about it? In a democratic society, anyone has the freedom to voice out his concerns. I do hope that any PAP supporter reading this know that it is everyone’s right to criticise and complain. A new citizen from India is planning to renounce Singapore citizenship and returns to retire back in his homeland in India and to take his CPF monies for his children's education. In a discussion thread started on the popular Singapore Expat forum, a new citizen from India using the moniker "bsyaja" asked for advice in a Catch-22 situation he found himself in: "My application for Indan citizenship has been approved and I am now asked to submit the "certificate of the renunciation of foreign citizenship" from Singapore for getting my Indian citizenship certificate.  But I gather that to renounce Singapore citizenship, one is required to submit a copy of the foreign citizenship certificate and foreign passport which I do not have yet. Now this is a catch-22 situation as I need the renunication certificate to get my new citizenship certificate and the renunciation certificate is issued only upon submission of the new citizenship certificate." [Source: Singapore Expats Forum] It is not known when "bsyaja" came to Singapore. However he must have made quite alot of money in Singapore over the years judging from his eagerness to renounce Singapore citizenship in order to withdraw his CPF monies. "bsyaja" added that he already have an approval letter from India stating that his application for Indian citizenship has been successful, but he is unsure if ICA will accept the letter on insist on his Indian registration letter/passport. According to the latest statistics released by the PAP regime, Indian expats form almost half of the number of PRs. The relentless influx of Indians into Singapore has contributed to an increase in the percentage of Indians in the community by 2 percent. More and more Indian are moving out to Singapore because of its inviting friendly-environment. It is reported that every fourth foreigner in Singapore is an Indian. In the past two years, the population of Indians in Singapore has become double i.e. from 200,000 to 400,000. The PAP regime is also actively recruiting Indian PRs and citizens into its grassroots organizations and Youth Wing, one of them being YPAP leader Sinha Shekhar who sparked an outcry lately by calling Singaporeans "DOGS" on the YPAP Facebook. "bsyaja" may be one of the increasing number of new citizens who have renounced their Singapore citizenship either to return to their homelands or emigrate to another country after "milking" Singapore dry.  Singaporean males serve two years of National Service and more than 10 years of reservist to protect these new citizens so as to enable them to enjoy the "best of both worlds" thanks to the "generosity" of the PAP regime.
