GST increase in 2024GST increase in 2024 On 1 Jan 2024 GST rises 1% from 8% to 9%; this is a 12.5% increase in GST. I am not convinced that this is necessary. PAP MPs refuse to condemn YPAP leader Jack Lin Xinli’s callous remarks about Singaporeans

PAP MPs refuse to condemn YPAP leader Jack Lin Xinli’s callous remarks about Singaporeans

PAP MPs have blatantly refused to condemn YPAP leader from Joo Chiat branch and General Secretary of Joo Chiat Community Club Youth Executive Committee Jack Lin Xinli for his callous remarks about Singaporeans. Mr Lin sparked a massive outroar among Singaporeans recently by describing them as “3rd class citizen” on the YPAP Facebook:   [Source: YPAP Facebook] Besides insulting Singaporeans, Mr Lin also made defamatory remarks on opposition MP Mr Chiam See Tong in the same exchange. He insinuated that Mr Chiam “bought” his ‘O’ levels from a degree mill, prompting one angry netizen to write a complaint letter about him to his MP Chan Soo Sen. Mr Lin has since issued a public apology to Singaporeans, claiming that he has been "misinterpreted". He has also emailed Mr Chiam See Tong to apologize to him. When interviewed by the state media, PAP MPs were quick to distance themselves from Mr Lin's remarks, claiming that they were made in his personal capacity. Joo Chiat MP Chan Soon Sen claimed that the remarks are made in the personal capacity of Mr Lin and therefore they should not be associated with the YEC or YPAP never mind the fact that Mr Lin is an important appointment holder of both organizations. YPAP Vice-Chairman Zaqy Mohamed said it could be "damaging" when people try to associate activists' personal views as representing the party, so there would be steps taken to educate members, especially younger ones, about online engagement and what they should not do when defending their positions. Tanjong Pagar MP Baey Yam Keng even has the cheek to implore Singaporeans to give YPAP members "space to grow and learn" "I hope people will be able to give (younger members) space to grow and learn. The last thing we want is people who are scared to express their views," he was quoted as saying in TODAY. As expected, YPAP Chairman Teo Ser Luck is nowhere to be seen, heard or found. Do the PAP MPs agree or disagree with Mr Lin's statement that Singaporeans are "3rd class citizens"? Their continued silence can only mean that they agree, endorse and support Mr Lin's views. The reluctance of PAP MPs to discipline their younger leaders is sending an erroneous message to them that they are free to insult Singaporeans in cyberspace with snobbish, elitist and callous remarks. In March this year, another YPAP leader and new citizen from India, Mr Sinha Shekhar, who was ironically awarded an “Outstanding Contributor award” by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong for his “regular” postings on REACH Facebook, caused a stir when he called Singapore NSmen “DOGS” on the YPAP Facebook. [Source: YPAP Facebook] Mr Sinha Shekhar who is currently the Head of Rehabilitation at Ang Mo Kio Community Hospital, did not serve a SINGLE day of NS. He later promised to “clarify” the matter in the media, but has not done so. No PAP MPs have reprimanded or condemned Mr Sinha for his disparaging, insulting and humiliating remarks yet. Singaporeans are still waiting for a public apology from Mr Sinha Shekar, if ever.   Related articles: >> YPAP leader Jack Lin Xinli apologizes to opposition MP Chiam See Tong >> PAP MP Chan Soo Sen refused to condemn Jack Lin’s callous remarks on Singaporeans >> Jack Lin Xinli became the 1st YPAP leader to apologise to Singaporeans for making offensive remarks about them >> YPAP leader Jack Lin Xinli clarified his “3rd class citizen” remarks on CNA >> Massive outcry at YPAP leader Jack Lin’s remarks >> YPAP leader Jack Lin: We are free to fix the opposition >> Complaint letter on YPAP leader Jack Lin   Please join our Facebook page here and invite your friends to do so to create awareness of the current affairs affecting Singaporeans. Slovak YOG Ambassador Danka Bartekova apologizes for “misquoted” comments in Singapore media

Slovak YOG Ambassador Danka Bartekova apologizes for “misquoted” comments in Singapore media

Slovak YOG Ambassador Danka Bartekova, who was applauded by many Singaporeans for describing Singapore's YOG venues as of "school standards", has now apologized for her comments being "used in a negative way." Ms Danka was quoted by Shin Min Daily in an article titled "Foreign Youth criticized Singapore's YOG venue of school standard only" on 26 July 2010: [Source: Shin Min Daily, 26 July 2010] Shin Min Daily reported her as saying that the standard of Singapore's YOG sporting venues as no different from schools to the Slovak media: “I’ve heard that some of the athletic fields in Singapore are no better than the standard school facilities, nothing special. Maybe Slovakia does have the potential to organise YOG, but I cannot imagine that our country would be able to accommodate the thousands of athletes and officials that would come to the games. That would require huge investments by any host country.” [Translated by a TR reader on its Facebook] [Source: Shin Min Daily, 26 July 2010] Below was her original interview with The Slovak Spectator: TSS: You say Singapore’s chances to organise the Olympics are low and so are Slovakia’s. Do you think that Slovakia should put in a bid to host the youth games? DB: In fact I’ve heard that some of the athletic fields in Singapore are no better than the standard school facilities, nothing special. Maybe Slovakia does have the potential to organise YOG, but I cannot imagine that our country would be able to accommodate the thousands of athletes and officials that would come to the games. That would require huge investments by any host country. [Source: The Slovak Spectator] In a letter to TR published yesterday, Ms Danka explained that she was asked by the Slovak media if Slovakia could place a bid to organize the YOG. What she had meant is that as the venues normally used for such events are of a "normal standard" school level, nothing special should have been built to host it. "No new halls, no new stadiums or tracks should have been built. That means our country could potentially have sport capacities to host such an event, but we would probably have problems with other facilities. I understand that this statement could be used as a critical statemetn to the Singapore sport venues, but If you read it in the context it was originally used, you would understand that it was just a speculation about Slovakia´s possibility to host the games," she wrote. Ms Danka then apologized for her comments being used in a "negative way": "I am very sorry that my comments were used in the negative way and looked like blaming the organizing committee." It is not known if Ms Danka has been interviewed in person by Shin Min Daily or her comments in the Slovak media were misinterpreted and misquoted by the journalist. Regardless of her original intention, Ms Danka became a celebrity overnight in Singapore with many netizens lending support to her public "criticisms" of the YOG which has embarrassed the increasingly unpopular PAP regime. Despite the huge publicity campaign launched by the PAP to promote the YOG, the response from Singaporeans has been most disappointing so far. In an online poll done by Channel News Asia, over 3,000 or 90 percent of the respondents indicated clearly that they are not interested in the YOG at all: Related articles: >> Ms Danka Bartekova's letter to TR >> CNA poll: 90 per cent of Singaporeans "not interested" in YOG >> Slovak YOG Ambassador slams YOG venues of “school standard” only >> Two Facebook groups calling for boycott of YOG >> Free condoms for YOG officials and athletes >> Singapore helping to repair Jamaica’s stadium in return for YOG marketing >> Former stripper to choreograph opening ceremony of YOG >> Desperate PAP wants Singaporeans to get “passionate” about YOG >> PAP to Singaporeans: Give way to YOG vehicles or get fined $130 >> PM Lee wants Singaporeans to do their part for YOG >> Only six teams in YOG soccer tournament Please join our Facebook page here and invite your friends to do so to create awareness of the current affairs affecting Singaporeans. NEA forecast: Heavy downpours over entire Singapore from 10am to 1pm

NEA forecast: Heavy downpours over entire Singapore from 10am to 1pm

According to the latest weather forecast from the National Environment Agency (NEA), there will be "showers with thunders" over the entire Singapore from 10am to 1pm: [Source: National Environment Agency] The heavy storm is likely to trigger anxieties among Singaporeans who have been affected by the last flood two weeks ago. Singapore has been hit by a recent spate of flooding which has caused millions of dollars of damages and losses. Despite widespread unhappiness and disgruntlement among Singaporeans, PAP leaders and civil servants have blatantly refused to apologize for their mistake. PAP Environment Minister Yaacob Ibrahim said he is "satisfied" with PUB's findings that the floods were caused by an "intense storm" while PAP strongman Lee Kuan Yew claimed that the flooding was an "act of God" which "no amount of engineering" can prevent. No reports of flooding have been reported so far.Coincidentally, Wendy's restaurant at Liats Tower which has the dubious "honor" of being flooded twice in the last one month alone, will be reopened today. Please inform us if there is flooding at your place. You can also take photos of the flooding and upload it immediately to our Facebook page here. This article will be updated as and when it is necessary and we will continue to provide you with the latest UNCENSORED news of the situation on the ground. Please keep the FLOOD PHOTOS (if any) coming in. Remember: it is NOT a crime to take photos of the flooding.  Read More →
