The editorial team had no choice but to find alternative methods in new media to watch this game and bring you this report. SAFFC were lucky not to have conceded more goals in Osaka as the hosts walk away 3-0 winners in this AFC Champions League group match. From the kick-off whistle, the Japanese club side dominated the proceedings. Their passing movement and off the ball running were clearly better than the visiting Warriors. SAFFC gave a good account of themselves a week ago in Singapore, but it was evident that this was going to be a very different game. SAFFC were missing five key players (John Wilkinson, Noh Rahman, Shaiful Esah and Mustaqim Manzur all injured and Taisuke Akiyoshi suspended), while Gamba had the luxury to rest Asian Player of the Year Yasuhito Endo and all of their Brazilian imports. 20-year-old Kodai Yasuda broke the deadlock in the 28th and Shoki Hirai, scorer of a hat-trick at Jalan Besar a week ago, found the net again after 56 minutes. It would definitely have been a higher score line for Gamba had Shahril Jantan not be on hand to thwart numerous attempts on goal. The Japanese side had also struck the post twice. Every Gamba player played well, but ironically it was substitute Ze Carlos who stole the show with his 15-minute cameo. He was energetic upfront and managed to find space to make three attempts on goal after coming on. He did cap a wonderful night for Gamba (and himself) in injury time, when he outpaced the SAFFC defence to slot the ball past Warriors’ custodian. Assessment on SAFFC There will be very few positives which Richard Bok can take away from this game. In all honesty, Gamba made SAFFC looked like schoolboys. Statistically, Gamba dominated possession, pass completion and had over 20 shots on goal, compared to SAFFC’s none. Suffice to say, it is clear that most of the football was played in the Warriors’ half. For the Warriors (or any other S-League side for that matter) to taste more success at this level, it is evident that a lot more investments have to be made. SAFFC’s only bright spark was Shahril Jantan. He made several saves last week against the same opponents and was again key in keeping the score line respectable. Shahril’s situation is somewhat like that of Barcelona’s Victor Valdes. Despite playing in goal for the top club side of the nation, both had been often overlooked at national team. Shahril is the only local goalkeeper to have experience at this level of competition - surely it is time for national team boss Raddy Avramovic to consider him in the next call-up. Shahril has not played for the Lions since 2004. AFC Champions League Group G Other Result: Suwon Samsung Bluewings (SKR) 2 Henan Construction (CHN) 0 SAFFC’s loss meant that they are now mathematically out of contention to qualify for the next round, still with two games to play. South Korea’s Suwon Samsung Bluewings have booked their place in the next round but their key game will be the one against Gamba in two weeks’ time to determine the winner of this Group (and a home tie in the next round). Written by Our Correspondent According to Lianhe Wanbao, a mysterious person has emailed them claiming to be in possession of a sex tape involving Jack Neo and Foyce Le Xuan. The email was forwarded to both Jack Neo and Foyce who had since lodged a police report. The sender even attached a photo in the email showing a naked man and a girl in bed. "Mr Jack Neo, I possess a recording of you having sex with Foyce Le Xuan in a hotel. Since you deny from the beginning that you have an extramarital affair with Foyce Le Xuan, please clarify publicly," the email reads. When contacted by Lianhe Wanbao, Foyce said: "I have never gone to the hotel with Jack Neo. This is an act of malice. I made a police report as I am afraid that people will make a fake CD to malign me and Jack Neo." She added that she suspects that the sender of the email belong to the same group of people who have been harassing her with threatening phone calls. Jack Neo was embroiled in a sex scandal lately when a 22 year old model Wendy Chong leaked their affair to the press. Almost immediately, Foreign Minister George Yeo posted on his blog calling on all Singaporeans to "rally" around his good friend, the adulterer Jack Neo. Jack Neo confirmed that he had received the email, but declined to comment on the matter.
