GST increase in 2024GST increase in 2024 On 1 Jan 2024 GST rises 1% from 8% to 9%; this is a 12.5% increase in GST. I am not convinced that this is necessary. Tan Kin Lian made it very easy for me to reach a conclusion

Tan Kin Lian made it very easy for me to reach a conclusion

In my two previous posts on the PE I had respectively mentioned that I would campaign for the first contender, ie George Goh, as I was glad that there would be an alternative choice after all. Following that another person came into the fray, making it three, should all were to get the approval to contest. I then called for voters to analyse all three contenders and vote for the one who would be in the position to fulfill the objective of having an "elected" president. Soon after that Mr. Tan Kin Lian threw his hat into the ring. His announcement moved me to put up this post. There is a good chance that the gov will allow all the four aspiring PE candidates to contest because it will split the votes and benefit them. It would be a replay of an earlier contest where Dr. Tony Tan won by only 7,009 votes. Now voters would have to choose who among the four they believe would serve the objective set out in the amended constitution, that is for checks and balances. I have done my analysis. Mr. Tan Kin Lian made it very easy for me to reach a conclusion. Without a single doubt he is now my choice . Compared to the others he is the most independent of the PAP. I am now calling on all Singaporeans, especially my friends and supporters, to do the same. I will do what I can to campaign for him.   * Facebook post by Mohamed Jufrie Bin Mahmood.      Read More →

Vivian Balakrishnan has been a disappointment

Vivian Balakrishnan has been a disappointment

In the accompanying clip, visiting Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi promptly removed his tie when he noticed his Singapore counterpart, Vivian Balakrishnan, didn't wear one. I ask if I am being overly sensitive or paranoid about minister Wang Yi' action? Surely minister Wang Yi didn't promptly remove his tie for fun. I imagine myself to be visiting Chinese minister Wang Yi. When I realised that my counterpart didn't at the minimum of diplomatic protocol and courtesy put on a tie to receive me, a foreign minister from a major and friendly country, it must signal to me that my visit is treated as informal by the host at best or being an eat free nothing to do foreign minister hello hello visit, a deliberate and indirect belittlement and insult at worst. I will not minced my words. To VB, I will say this to you. You are not a new foreign minister and your dressing when receiving minister Wang Yi was clearly inappropriate. It definitely reflected poorly on you as a host and by extension, Singapore. Congratulations, you have been a disappointment and failed as a million dollars earning Singapore minister once again. Think.   Simon Lim      Read More →

EG.5来自奥密克戎家族,是XBB.1.9.2的亚变种。 Read More →
